The Birth of  a Vision- How my Entrepreneural Journey Began

By Nhlanhla Handsome Ngubane

The MRED Entrepreneur Journey – Series Part 1

Every entrepreneur remembers the moment the spark first lit inside them — the moment when a simple idea becomes a possibility, and a possibility becomes the start of a journey. For me, that moment came long before the formation of MRED Holdings, Mred Corp Solutions, Mred Hair Salon & Barber Shop, Mred Farm, and Mred Garden Services. It began with a mindset shift: the belief that I could build something of my own.

Where It All Started

Like many entrepreneurs, my path did not begin with money or resources. It began with observation. I noticed gaps, challenges, and opportunities around me. I asked myself:

“Why not me? Why can’t I create something different?”
This question became the seed of my entrepreneurial DNA.

I didn’t have a blueprint at first. I didn’t know exactly where I was going, but I knew I didn’t want to remain where I was. The desire for change — the desire to create, to build, to grow — was stronger than the fear of starting.

The Early Mindset Shift

Before you start a business, you must change your thinking. That was the first lesson I learned. I had to move from waiting for opportunities to creating them, from thinking like an employee to thinking like a builder.

I trained my mind to embrace possibilities instead of limitations.

To see solutions instead of obstacles.

To believe that even though I didn’t have everything, I had enough to begin.

That mindset shift became the foundation of everything that followed.

The First Steps Toward Entrepreneurship

Ideas started coming — slowly at first, then faster as I opened myself to growth. I realized that businesses aren’t born when you register them; they are born when you commit to the idea.

I researched.

I asked questions.

I learned the basics of branding, registration, finances, online presence — even before I had a company.

These first steps shaped my understanding that preparation is part of success, even when the path isn’t clear yet.

Planting the Seeds of MRED

Even before MRED Holdings existed, the idea of building multiple businesses under one umbrella was already forming in my mind. I didn’t want to build just one company — I wanted to create a network of ideas that would grow into something much bigger.

At that time, it wasn’t about money. It was about purpose and potential. I saw the kind of future I wanted, and I knew that if I didn’t start, that future would never come.

The Turning Point

There is always a defining moment when thinking turns into action. For me, that moment came when I stopped doubting and made a decision:

“I’m going to build something — even if I start from zero.”

That decision changed my life. What followed was the beginning of the first company, the first registration, the first step into the business world. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary.

A Message for Anyone at the Beginning

If you are standing at the start of your entrepreneurial journey, remember this:

You don’t need to have everything figured out.

You don’t need money to begin.

You don’t need approval to build your dream.

You only need one thing:

The decision to start.

Once you take that first step, the journey begins — and the path starts revealing itself.
